FiberUp Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 13, 2026
Overview
FiberUp ("we", "the app") is a fiber tracking app for iOS and Android that also offers optional AI meal scanning. This policy explains what data the app collects, how it is used, and your rights.
Data Storage
All of your fiber tracking data, including daily logs, food entries, goals, streaks, and preferences, is stored locally on your device. We do not operate a database of your fiber log. Your tracking data never leaves your device except as described below (advertising, barcode lookups, AI meal scanning, purchase verification, and analytics).
No Account Required
FiberUp does not require you to create an account, sign in, or provide any personal information such as your name, email address, or phone number. To use AI meal scanning, the app receives a server-issued anonymous identifier the first time you scan, used only to secure and rate-limit requests to our service. On iOS this uses Apple App Attest and on Android it uses Google Play Integrity to confirm the request comes from a genuine copy of the app. This identifier is not linked to your real identity.
AI Meal Scanning
FiberUp Pro subscribers can scan a meal by taking a photo. When you scan a meal, the photo is sent to our backend service for analysis. The backend uses Google Gemini to identify the foods in the photo and a copy of the USDA FoodData Central database hosted on our server to estimate their fiber content. After processing:
- The image is not stored on our servers beyond the duration of the request.
- The AI provider does not retain the image for training purposes (per our service agreements).
- The estimated results are returned to your device and are only saved if you choose to log them.
- We do not associate the image with directly identifying information such as your name, email address, or phone number.
Barcode Scanning
FiberUp requests camera access to scan barcodes on packaged foods and to take meal photos for AI scanning. Barcode scanning is processed on-device in real time; the barcode number (text only, no personal data) is sent to Open Food Facts to look up nutritional information. The camera feed itself is not recorded or stored.
Advertising
FiberUp uses Google AdMob to display ads to users on the free tier. AdMob may collect and use certain data to serve personalized or non-personalized ads, including device identifiers (the advertising identifier, when permitted), IP address, general location (country or region level), and app usage data related to ad interactions. You can opt out of personalized advertising through your device's privacy settings. For more information, see Google's Privacy Policy.
Subscriptions and Purchases
FiberUp offers an optional one-time "Remove Ads" purchase and an optional auto-renewable subscription ("FiberUp Pro") that unlocks AI meal scanning and history and removes ads. All purchases and billing are handled entirely through Apple's App Store or Google Play; we do not collect or store any payment information. Subscription and purchase status is verified through RevenueCat, a third-party subscription management service. RevenueCat receives an anonymous app user ID and your purchase or entitlement status; no name, email address, phone number, or payment details are shared by FiberUp.
Notifications
FiberUp may request permission to send local notifications as daily reminders. Notifications are scheduled locally on your device and do not involve any external servers.
Analytics
FiberUp uses PostHog, a product analytics service, to understand how features are used and to improve the app. PostHog collects product usage events (for example onboarding steps, paywall views, and scan actions), app lifecycle events, and coarse device context attached by the analytics SDK: device model, OS version, app version, locale, and timezone. Answers you give in the onboarding questionnaire (such as your goal and age range) are also recorded as anonymous properties.
Analytics events are associated with an anonymous, randomly generated identifier stored on your device. This identifier is not linked to your name, email address, or any account. Analytics does not use the advertising identifier, does not track you across other apps or websites, and is never sold. Food photos are not sent to PostHog. Analytics data is processed by PostHog Inc. and hosted in the United States. See PostHog's Privacy Policy.
Install Attribution
FiberUp uses AppsFlyer to measure which advertising campaigns lead to installs. AppsFlyer receives device information and an anonymous install identifier. It does not receive your fiber log or any food photos. See AppsFlyer's Privacy Policy.
Third-Party Services
- Google AdMob: displaying advertisements
- Open Food Facts: nutritional data for scanned barcodes (barcode numbers are sent to their public API)
- Google Gemini: identifying foods in meal photos during AI scanning (photos are sent for analysis and not stored)
- USDA FoodData Central: the source of our self-hosted fiber database (no data is sent to the USDA)
- RevenueCat: subscription and purchase management (an anonymous app user ID and entitlement status are shared)
- PostHog: anonymous product analytics
- AppsFlyer: install attribution
- Apple App Attest and Google Play Integrity: confirming scan requests come from a genuine copy of the app
Data Sharing
We do not sell, share, or transfer your personal data to third parties, except as described above.
Children's Privacy
FiberUp is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Data Deletion
Since all of your tracking data is stored locally on your device, you can delete it at any time by deleting the app. Anonymous purchase records are kept by RevenueCat in accordance with their data retention policy. To request deletion of any analytics or scan identifiers associated with your device, contact us at the address below.

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. The updated version will be indicated by the "Last updated" date at the top of this page.
